Paris, Normandy
& the Seine River
The City of Light · The Seine Valley · The Normandy Beaches · Monet's Giverny
Wake up in the world's most romantic city, then let the Seine carry you north through cathedral towns and Impressionist gardens, all the way to the beaches where history changed course. This spring, we're hosting a small group for the full experience.
Paris to Normandy,
at the pace of the river.
Two nights in Paris to settle in before we ever step aboard, then eight days tracing the Seine from the City of Light through Rouen's Gothic old town, the Normandy landing beaches, and the Impressionist gardens of Giverny, back to Paris. Avalon's Artistry II docks right in the heart of each town along the way — no long bus transfers,* just the river and its history unfolding outside your window.
*One exception: the Normandy landing beaches excursion is reached by motorcoach from Caudebec — see below.
Four chapters,
one unforgettable river.
Two nights in Paris before boarding, then a full day to explore the Palais-Royal, the Louvre pyramid, Île de la Cité, and the Left Bank with a Certified Local Guide — or simply wander on your own.
A relaxing sail past Auvers-sur-Oise and the château ruins of Les Andelys, into Rouen — site of Joan of Arc's martyrdom, with its medieval quarter and towering Gothic cathedral.
A guided tour along the Normandy Abbeys Route, an onboard lecture on the days before and after D-Day, then a full-day motorcoach excursion from Caudebec inland to the American, British, and Canadian landing sites — Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, and the American Cemetery.
A guided tour of Monet's home and water-lily gardens in Giverny, a traditional French crêpe luncheon while sailing back to Paris, and a final breakfast before disembarking where it all began.
Ships designed
to open up.
Avalon's Panorama Suites feature wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows that essentially turn your stateroom into an open-air balcony. The Artistry II docks right in the heart of historic towns along the Seine — you step off the gangway and straight into the action, no long bus transfers.
